Why are the called the White Sox?
Before the White Sox moved to the South Side of Chicago from St Paul (remember the neighbouring city of Minneapolis that the Twins play in), they were known as the St Paul Saints.
Once they moved however, they quickly adopted the Cubs previous nickname “White Stockings”, to resonate with the fan base in Chicago.
White Stockings was shortened to White Sox, soon after the team joined the American League in 1901.
Whilst I love the look of their cap logo (above), it would be remiss of me not to include another one of my favourite logos in baseball, the White Sox alternate logo.

Why am I excited to see their city?*
The capital of the mid-west and largest US city I haven’t been, Chicago seems to have it all (especially during the summer time).
The bean, the buildings, the lake, the history, restaurants, bars, it is literally like the mid-western New York City and I am especially pumped to go there, catch up with friends and enjoy the games!

*taken from previous post about the Cubs. However, I’ve heard the South Side of Chicago is pretty etch, so that will be an interesting contrast to the friendly neighbourhood of Wrigleyville where the Cubs play
What is a tradition at their ballpark?
The White Sox run out onto the field every game to legendary AUSSIE band AC/DC. The song?
THUNDERSTRUCK!
As always, cue the music!
Who is a famous fan?
Much like there local rivals the Cubs, the White Sox have an abundance of famous fans. But for this particular team, it looks like they’ve got the most famous of all.
I’m talking about Big Barry ‘O – Barack Obama!
A fun/weird fact about the White Sox?
Often associated with gangs, the White Sox black hat with “SOX” on the front was a favourite amongst LA rappers Ice Cube and Dr Dre in the early 90’s (even though their performances on the field have been nothing to brag about)
